Humboldt State University Natural History Museum

1315 G St., Arcata, CA, 95521
(707) 826-4479

The museum's collections and exhibits focus on the theme "the Earth and its biota through time" with an emphasis on local Northern California natural history. The core of the Museum's displays come from the Maloney Fossil Collection: nearly 2,000 specimens of worldwide distribution. Over 500 fossils are currently on public display, with over 400 of these specimens pictured on the Museum's Exhibits web pages. Local natural history is highlighted by displays of butterflies, shells, sponges and corals, crabs, earthquakes and tsunamis, and live native animals including a 50-gallon tidepool tank and a living observation bee hive.
